Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 17, 2026
Keepable (“Keepable,” “we,” “us”) is a private memory-keeping app for parents and families. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at info@thekeepableapp.com.
Who can use Keepable
Keepable is intended for adults 18 and older, and you must confirm you are 18 or older to create an account. Keepable is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account. Families use Keepable to privately keep memories that may include photos and recordings of their own children; that content is provided and controlled by the adult account holder (see “Content about children” below).
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, a securely hashed password, your age confirmation, and any optional profile details you choose to add about yourself (such as your gender or whether you’re a parent) to personalize your questions — never information about a child.
- Content you create: the photos you upload, voice recordings, and the written reflections and titles you add to your memories.
- Family information: the families you create or join, your role, and invite codes.
- Device and usage information: a device push-notification token (if you enable notifications), limited product-analytics events, and technical logs (including IP address) generated when you use the service.
We do not collect analytics on the content of your memories — analytics events record counts and outcomes (for example, that a memory was saved), never the words you write.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service: store your memories, show them to the family members you choose, and let your family react and comment.
- To generate the reflective experience: when you add a photo, we send the image to our AI provider to produce a short observation and a few gentle questions (see “AI processing”).
- To transcribe voice answers: when you record a spoken answer, we send that audio clip to our transcription provider to turn it into editable text you can keep with the memory.
- To send you transactional emails (email verification, password reset, and — if you joined our waitlist — a welcome note) and, if enabled, push notifications.
- To keep the service secure: authenticate you, prevent abuse, and enforce rate limits.
AI processing of photos
When you add a photo, the image is sent to Anthropic’s API solely to generate the observation and questions that power Keepable’s reflection feature, and to automatically screen it for clearly objectionable content (see “Reporting and safety”). Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through its API. Under Anthropic’s standard API terms, submitted data may be retained by Anthropic for a limited period (currently up to approximately 30 days) for trust-and-safety purposes; we are finalizing a zero-data-retention arrangement to eliminate that retention. The AI is instructed never to output names, ages, or identify individuals; it returns only a moment type, a one-line observation, a suggested title, follow-up questions, a coarse subject category, and a safety verdict.
Reporting and safety
Keepable is a private, invite-only space, but we still give you tools to keep it safe. You can report a photo or comment you find objectionable, and you can block another person so you no longer see each other’s content; a family owner can also remove and bar someone from their family. Reported content comes to us for review and we act on it promptly. In addition, each uploaded photo is automatically screened for clearly objectionable content and blocked if detected. To report something outside the app, contact us at info@thekeepableapp.com.
Content about children
Keepable exists so parents can privately keep moments that often include their children. That content is uploaded and controlled by you, the adult account holder. We never ask for or collect a child’s name, age, or identity, and our AI is instructed never to generate any. We do not build profiles of children, show your content to anyone outside your private family, or use your content for advertising. You can delete any memory, or your entire account, at any time.
How your information is shared
Your memories are private to you and the family members you share them with. There is no public feed, and we do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising. We share data only with service providers (“subprocessors”) that help us run Keepable, each limited to what they need:
- Anthropic — AI photo analysis (photo bytes at capture).
- OpenAI — transcription of voice answers (audio clips you record).
- Cloudflare R2 — private media storage (photos, audio).
- Neon — database (account, family, and memory metadata; your text answers).
- Vercel — application and API hosting (requests and logs).
- Resend — transactional email delivery (your email address).
- Expo — push notifications (device push token).
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics (device and error information; configured to exclude your identity, IP, and memory content).
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or security of our users and the public.
How we store and protect your data
- Photos and voice recordings are kept in a private object store and are never public; access is granted only through short-lived, per-request signed links.
- Passwords are stored only as salted scrypt hashes, and session tokens are stored only as hashes. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our storage and database providers.
- Access to family data is checked on every request against your family membership; private memories are never shown to other members.
- Our staff do not access your photos in the ordinary course. Any administrative access is restricted, requires a stated reason, and is logged.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (or a family you own), we remove the associated memories and responses and purge the photo and voice-recording files from storage. Uploads from abandoned captures are cleaned up automatically. We retain limited security and audit logs for accountability for a limited period.
Your rights and choices
- Access / export: you can download your data — including your photos — from within the app.
- Deletion: you can delete your account at any time from the app, which permanently removes your content as described above.
- Notifications: you can turn push notifications on or off on your device.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including access, correction, deletion, and portability. To exercise any right, contact us at info@thekeepableapp.com.
International data transfers
Keepable and its subprocessors are based in the United States, and your information is processed there. If you use Keepable from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
